Trailer Winch with Cable, not braked
Powerful and straightforward towing solutions. A non-braked trailer winch is a simple mechanical device designed to move loads quickly and efficiently on trailers, boat trailers, and other transport platforms. These winches operate without an internal braking system and are equipped with a free-spool clutch. When cable tension is released and the pawl is disengaged, the cable runs freely. This makes the winch suitable for applications where fast, smooth handling is required.
Advantages of a non-braked trailer winch
Very cost-effective solution
Simple operation without complex brake mechanisms
High pulling capacity, available in different load ratings for light and heavier rolling loads
Limited effort required, approximately 15 percent of the load weight is often sufficient to set a rolling load in motion
Lightweight and compact design, easy to install and transport
Typical applications
Boat trailers for pulling boats out of the water
Trailers for loading vehicles or other rolling equipment
Recovery of rolling loads, although this generally requires additional manpower
Agricultural applications for general towing purposes
Important limitations and safety warning
Non-braked trailer winches are often viewed with caution in professional environments. While they are suitable for pulling and towing, lifting with this type of winch is strictly prohibited, regardless of claims made by some suppliers. Due to the freewheel mechanism and disengageable gearing, a suspended load cannot be controlled. If the load becomes unsupported, it can drop uncontrollably. The risk of serious injury from sudden load movement or swinging is significant.
In practical terms, this type of winch must never be used for lifting operations under any circumstances.
